Business is Booming
Hackney Today – 20th November 2006
On Tuesday 15 November, Shoreditch Town Hall was the venue for hundreds of Hackney business people. The occasion was the Mayor of Hackney's Business Awards 2006 ceremony which celebrated the success of Hackney's budding entrepreneurs and business people.
The Mayor Jules Pipe, was joined by guest speakers on the night which included Morag Stewart, Head of Procurement at the Olympic Delivery Authority, who spoke of the 2012 Olympic opportunities available to the borough's business people.
Hackney Mayor, Jules Pipe said, "I was delighted once again to be given the opportunity to support and celebrate the successes of local businesses. It was a great event and it made me very proud to see all the talent and creativity that exists in the Hackney business community being celebrated. Small businesses and entrepreneurship are at the heart of Hackney's local economy, and encouraging the development of business in Hackney will help to provide employment opportunities and generate wealth."
The Mayor thanked all those who participated in organising the awards and the ceremony, the sponsors and the guests. He said, "It was a memorable night. Most of all I want to thank everyone who entered the awards, and of course the winners, for the huge contribution they make to Hackney's economy and the borough overall."
The awards and event was organised by Hackney Council in partnership with the Hackney Enterprise Network.
The 'Best Environmental Practice' award was won by ELCRP.
